Alison Johnson – New Studio Editions

If you are looking to bring atmosphere to a room Alison Johnson’s work has it in abundance. Created using the painterly techniques of the old masters, her modern seascapes and landscapes evoke a sense of mystery and wonderment, yet sit seamlessly in either contemporary or traditional interiors.

Available in this collection are originals and beautifully presented, hand embellished limited editions to suit different budgets. The quality of the limited editions is outstanding and really has to be seen to be appreciated.

You can view the collection via the link below and in the gallery but not all of the pieces have arrived yet, so please check with us if you are interested in a specific piece.

We hope you enjoy this fabulous collection of work.

Alison Johnson

Following the overwhelming success of her debut collection of Studio Editions, we are delighted to announce the release of a new series of work by Alison.

Her atmospheric oil paintings are vibrant and seductive, and her craft is driven by a desire to encapsulate the atmosphere and emotion of a place. Her work has been likened to the great masters of our time and the Turneresque undertones are very apparent.

Since studying art Alison has exhibited across the UK. Her work has also reached international scale with work hanging in Italy, America, France, and the Middle East.  She has completed various commissions with clients such as the Prince of Saudi Arabia and The Waldorf Hotel

A NEW DAY DAWNS

TAKING SOME TIME FOR US

OUR TIME TOGETHER

“A solitary walk in the countryside is the perfect way to allow your thoughts to settle and once that has happened you just need to find the right stopping point. Something – a distant steeple, a figure in the mist, a particularly beautiful tree – will always halt me in my tracks and the next composition will begin to take place in my mind.” JW

In the Spotlight – Sherree Valentine Daines

Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, Lord Sebastian Coe and Dame Vera Lynne are amongst those who have sat for Sheree Valentine Daines, one of the UK’s foremost figurative artists. So as you can imagine, we are very excited to introduce her to you and give you an insight into her world.

Here we take a look at her work and find out more about her personality and family life in an exclusive HELLO! Magazine interview. We also reveal her latest collection of work that has just arrived with us.

We hope you enjoy this insight into Sherree Valentine Daines.  Keep an eye out for more news and updates from us  – we’ve got some fabulous things to share with you soon.

Sociable, chatty and quick to laugh Sherree lives in Surrey with her husband and fellow artist Jonathan Rowbotham, in a 17th Century house which is as warm and welcoming as the artist herself.  Her sanctuary is her wonderfully messy studio filled with canvases, brushes, pallets, pots of paint, and an infectious energy.  Here she creates up to 30 oil paintings a year, some of which sell for tens of thousands of pounds.

“In theory I paint from 10am to 10pm. I also spend a lot of time in the fridge”

In her new collection of limited editions,  Sherree takes us to the ballet where her painterly, impressionistic style matched with such beguiling subject matter renders each individual image timeless. Sherree’s penchant for concentrating on the light and shading within a scene took her down the route of impressionism, and the influence of artists such as Renoir and Degas can be seen not only in her style but in their shared subject matter.

More Than ‘Just A Card’

Listening in frustration to the owner of a much-loved local bookshop that was closing down, Sarah Hamilton (founder of the ‘Just a Card Campaign) felt compelled to act.

The closure, like that of many small businesses, wasn’t down to poor quality products or service. This was a treasured book shop, where you could get great books, gift ideas, and where children could enjoy books in the play area.

Not content to just put these closures down to modern day shopping habits and the general obliteration of the high street, Sarah decided to take action and the ‘Just a Card’ campaign was born.

‘Just a Card’ was designed to highlight that whilst the majority of shoppers buy in to the concept of supporting local businesses, these won’t survive unless there is a conscious decision to take action – and if that action is purchasing something as small as ‘Just a Card’ it will make a difference.

As an independent business ourselves, we know exactly how much difference the purchase of ‘Just a Card’ makes to us. Fizz’s co-owner Sandy Prater says:

“Customers often apologise that they have only popped in to buy a card or other small item. But whether they buy a painting or a card, every single purchase is just as important to us and helps secure our future”

Today the campaign has built a following of over 52k followers on Instagram spreading an upbeat message about the need to celebrate, support, value and buy from independents. And thanks to an all-star cast including Richard E Grant and Hayley Mills, Greta Saatchi and Twiggy, the ‘Just a Card’ message is being seen on huge advertising boards throughout London’s underground.
